Christmastime in New York City

What IS it that makes New York so beautiful during the holidays? It's the crisp air, the excitement, the massive crowds, the bright lights, the extraordinary displays in the store windows, the gaily decorated buildings, and, of course, the huge tree and the ice skaters at Rockefeller Center!
You can make all this come alive in your camera as you join us for our annual fun-filled one-day Safari in New York at holiday time!

Our Safari, led by professional architectural photographer and ex- New Yorker E. David Luria is designed to let you get to New York just for the day and return home in the evening, Mr. Luria will provide guidance on composition, lighting, white balance, exposure, how to shoot through store windows, and how to capture the excitement of the city and its people in your camera.

Our Safari begins at 3;30 pm on 34th Street and Broadway, right in front of Macy's magnificent store windows. We then make our way over to 5th Avenue and work our way slowly up the avenue, wedging our way through the crowds to get our cameras right up to the store windows of Best and Co,, Saks Fifth Avenue, Tiffany's, FAO Schwarz, and many others. At 54th Street we go into Rockefeller Center and photograph the skaters and the 72 ft. tall Christmas tree with its 40,000 lights. We wind up at the Plaza Hotel and Condominiums on 59th Street and 5th Ave. to photograph the beautiful lobby and its decorations. Because it is VERY hard to move as a group through these crowds, we will arrange frequent meet-up points to review images and share tips.

If you hate crowds and long walks, this Safari is not for you. But if you like color and pageantry, this safari will yield many images suitable for holiday cards and framing...Bring your kids! 

For travel from the DC area we recommend Tripperbus.com which has a bus departing Arlington VA at 10:30 am and Bethesda MD at 11:10 pm arriving in front of Macy's at 3:00 pm and one departing at 7:00 pm to return to DC area from Macy’s 4 hours later, for $50 RT.
